Immigration

I'm all for it...
I recognize that our country requires immigration in order to function at its best. We get a lot of smart people from other countries that contribute to research in our universities and labs. We gain a lot of labor in service industries. Truth be told, we don't have the population growth to reasonably support ourselves in the future (that and too many of the kids being born today will never make anything meaningful of themselves but that is a post for another day).
Immigration is what America was founded on - we are all descendant from an immigrant somewhere in our past.

JUST DO IT LEGALLY!

I'm on this rant because congress blows on this issue. Check out how amnesty is on its way to being granted to illegal aliens - Center for Security Policy

Giving amnesty to illegal aliens is absolutely ridiculous. It does nothing to reduce illegal immigration in the future. It does not allow us to 'know who is here.' It rewards illegal behavior and promises to do nothing more than drain away more of the precious resources we don't have enough of already. They are already spending your tax dollars in schools and hospitals because no one can be denied these services in America. Now you want to let them spend your tax dollars through assistance programs to lift them from the poverty many live in? Don't be fooled for a second to believe that they will contribute to the tax base - that is not going to happen unless their wages and/or job market are significantly expanded.

Immigrants are wonderful - when they are law abiding citizens like the rest of us. The rest of you, go suck the life out of some other country.

  1. Princess Cat, I agree with you (believe me...see my Blue State Conservatives post last Wednesday) but here's the ugly truth:

We are going to be forced to grant amnesty in some sort of naturalization process. Roughly 3% of the American polutaion (or more) is comprised of illegal immigrants, primarily Mexicans and some Central American countries). That's just a big crap sandwich that we're all going to have to take a bite of.

    But...

    Here's where my beef lies:

We must STOP THE FLOOD first before engaging in any of that. We have a largely unmanned border to the south with teems of unskilled, poor, needy people streaming across daily in search of something other than what Mexico (et al) has to offer. We have to stop the flood first with physical security, and maintain it by (gently) ummmm...guiding...the Mexican government thing that resembles more a Soprano mafia family, so that there is lees of a sense of urgency to get to the End of the Rainbow (which apparently is somewhere between Brownsville Texas and Los Angeles).

In the Marines, combat first aid is three steps:

    1. Stop the Bleeding.
    2. Start the breathing.
    3. Treat for shock.

We are starting the breathing and treating for shock with Amnesty now, all the while, the bleeding femoral artery is defeating all efforts.

I have no clue how old you are, but Ronald readan granted amnesty too. and? Well, here we are again....or still. What makes this genius plan any better/different in effect?

Nothing. But man, if some people don't feel awefully nice about themselves supporting it.

Amnesty is not bad. It's reality.

    But in the PROPER SEQUENCE!

AND....NOT snuck through the syste4m tucked into the Emergency Funding Bill for military operations. (THAT's what really burns me up. It will never (EVER) survive a Senate vote, so it gets slyly tucked away into another 'must pass' piece of legislation.

Hope taht all made sense to you, because it's just a fact.

We can't just say No AMnesty. We must say SECURE FIRST, then deal with amnesty.

    Cheers.
